International Association of Black Professional Fire Fighters

The IABPFF is comprised of 90 Chapters and represents 5,100 members. Key elements of this organization's mission include:

  • Promoting interracial progress throughout the Fire Service
  • Promoting the recruitment and employment of Blacks as fire fighters.
  • Providing aid to Blacks that seek advancement in rank throughout the Fire Service.

Firefighter's ABC's supports these goals by conducting its Entry Level Workshops and Diversity Recruitment seminars at IABPFF events

FPSI (Fire & Police Selection, Inc.)

For many years, FPSI has been an industry leader in the development, administration and validation of tests used for the selection of fire fighters and police officers. Additionally, FPSI has a direct partnership with Biddle Consulting Group, Inc. that specializes in litigation and expert witness support for testing related matters.

FPSI is developing the National Recruit Assessment Testing Initiative that is an outgrowth of the Firefighter Diversity Recruitment Council's 2008 Annual Conference. This concept would test applicants around the U.S. and makes their names and scores available to participating fire departments. The potential is that candidates would be tested nation-wide, at no charge to fire departments, with names and scores being made available to individual fire departments for inclusion in their entry level qualification process. An emphasis would be placed upon testing candidates within diversity rich communities.
